Health insurance for holistic health care?

Several months ago I posted some articles from the Holistic Health Phreak. While I've been on hiatus, he's been busy posting again. This morning, I got caught up on his blog and found a great post discussing holistic health and western insurance practices-- and mindsets.

I've struggled with the same questions. Completely abandon insurance all together (since I only see other holistic practitioners, and insurance covers none of them) and put my weekly contribution into a savings fund, or do I keep insurance just to be "safe". If I were in a car wreck and needed hospitalization, the costs would be outrageous if insurance were not there to help me. But then again, how much could I save if I were no longer paying into my plan?

I'm off to do some math. I'll report back soon.

Spam Free!

Have you heard about comment spamming in blogs? It happened to me. Nothing major, just a real annoyance. I was wondering why all these comments started coming in on posts I had made last year. Just real quick "I agree" stuff, but with a really strange URL listed. Obviously, some one was trying to get their rankings up on the search engines by plastering their URL all over comments. I did some Google searches on the URLS (I won't post them, 'cuz that's what they want) and see they are doing it all over.

So if you run a blog, check your comments for less-than-cleverly hidden spam messages in your comments. And delete them.

Quotable quote

Words of wisdom from fellow herbalist Jim McDonald from Michigan:

If you're standing on a fry pan, you can put aloe on your burning feet, but it'd help to step off the pan, too.
Words to live by, don't you agree?

Current sign of the Apocalypse

Scientists Unveil Low-Calorie Watermelon

"The problem with watermelon is that unlike other fruit, one tends to eat a lot and the calories accumulate..." said Shmuel Wolf, chief researcher of the team from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

Nice to see we're busy tackling those global issues!

What herb are you?

Yes, I find these as annoying as you do. But now that I've found one germane to my interests...
