Rescued remedy

OUCH! My hands hurt...

Yesterday I visited the property of a friend of mine. He's building a house himself and the dirt mover was there gouging out a pad for the foundation. As I was strolling aroud the property, I notice a recently uprooted Mahonia repens (Oregon Grape or Algerita) of gargantuan size!

I'm a very careful wildcrafter and will go to great lengths to not kill the plant I'm harvesting from. As such, I wind up making small quantities of medicine. But in this case, the plant was already up and out, headed for the burn pile. I acted quickly.

The rest of the day was spent chopping up the root in to very small pieces. It took about for hours, but right now I have two gallons of Mahonia mascerating!

So bring me your liver-tired, your dry-skinned and your bacteria-ridden huddled masses. I'm ready for them!
