Fellow blogger and herbalist Sarah Hasler has just opened up her herb store to online shoppers. Sahra and crew specialize in high quality custom crafted 1:1 solid liquid extracts, which are very tough to make. But she's got the knack and is now offering her talents to those who aren't fortunate enough to live near her shop in Oregon.
Best of luck in your venture, Sarah!

But I need to add that our 1:1 extracts are actually fluid extracts. They're still very concentrated, but they're not the sort of solid extracts you sometimes see made. Those, to my understanding, are usually in a much higher concentration than 1:1. They also take all sorts of fancy vacuum equipment and the whatnot, which my little tiny herb company can't afford...yet.

I've got a bottle of Solid Licorice Extract from Wise Woman herbals. I'm a stress monkey, and a couple weeks of that keeps me from wanting to strangle the corporate morons around me. But I digress...
While in school I learned that a 1:1 was in fact a solid extract. It's not solid, but it is a pretty heavy syrup. When you make a 1:1, is it thick and gummy like this? And is a solid extract more concentrated than a 1:1 liquid extract? I've heard of 2:1 extracts but have no practical experience.
Ciao... Evo
