Around 400 patients in Britain are to take part in a trial starting next month to investigate thalidomide as a treatment for small cell lung cancer, Cancer Research UK announced on Tuesday.Thalidomide is notorious for causing the birth of hundreds of babies with missing limbs in the 1960s after it was used to prevent morning sickness during pregnancy. However, the drug is now being explored as a treatment for other conditions.
